'Racists Can Be Your Friendly Neighbor': BlacKkKlansman Explained

EntertainmentMovies

On Sunday we’ll be basking in yet another Oscars ceremony, this one with no host, fewer awards, and probably an exponential increase in disaster. To help prepare for the schadenfreude, we’ve enlisted our beloved former Jezebel Managing Editor Madeleine Davies to walk us through the plot of every Best Picture nominee.

In the video above, she takes a look at Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman, based on a true story about a black detective who infiltrated the KKK to stop a racist bombing, and which is sort of analogous to Lee finally getting a long-deserved Best Picture nomination despite deserving it literally 30 years ago for Do The Right Thing.
