Growing up, when I was told by most around me not to get a tattoo because I would “live to regret it,” I never pictured the remorse would emanate from a twist of fate. At worst I’d become bored with how it looked.

Not so in the case of Pete Davidson’s first tattoo! The Ariana Grande fiancé told Variety in a recent interview that his 17-year-old self was inspired by the pop star’s ex, Big Sean. The tattoo is on one of his legs and it says “Swerve Life,” an homage to the rapper’s song “Mercy.” According to E!, Davidson got that tattoo “just because he liked the way the rapper said ‘swerve’ in the song.”

But don’t worry, Davidson now has four tattoos that pay tribute to Grande, so he’s atoned or whatever.

Hard to believe it was a mere three months ago, early May, that Kanye West wandered onto the TMZ set and proclaimed, “When you hear about slavery for 400 years—for 400 years? That sounds like a choice.”

So the legendary artist has had some time to consider his words, why the fuck he would blame slavery on enslaved people. He seems to have given thought, at least, to his words’ reception, and said during an interview with WCGI 107.5 on Wednesday:

“I don’t know if I properly apologized for how that slave comment made people feel, so I want to take this moment right now to say that I’m sorry for hurting, I’m sorry for the 1-2 effect of the MAGA hat into the slave comment and I’m sorry for people who felt let down by that moment.”

Which is…something, but it doesn’t look as if he’s changed his mind about what he said, since elsewhere in the interview he elaborates, “I said 400 years, it sounds like a choice to me, to Kanye West.” We know that!
