New York City Rat Map Is Helpful, Mildly Terrifying

Latest

If you’re in New York and wondering what the rat content of your block (and possibly your home) is, The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has a handy map for you to check out.

Gothamist reports that while the map is both interactive and oddly beautiful (because rats are actually pretty awesome), you should take it with a grain of salt because it lists only information about rats discovered during official inspections (I wonder whose job it is to note that). If you’re looking for individual rat sightings, that’s another map entirely. However, there is no list of how much each rat should kick in for rent per month.
