Neil Young Confirms That He and Daryl Hannah Are Wed, Reminds Us to Vote

There was plenty of speculation in August that Daryl Hannah and Neil Young, who have been dating since 2014, had gotten married over the course of two ceremonies, one of them on Neil’s yacht, so pretty specific, but we didn’t know for sure for sure.

On Wednesday, Young casually announced he and Daryl had tied the knot in a message accompanying a new video for Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s “Ohio,” posted to his website. In the note, he refers to Hannah as his “wife Daryl.” Mostly it is a call for gun control laws, as well as to vote in the midterm elections on Tuesday (emphasis mine):

“‘Ohio’ was written back in 1970 after seeing the cover of a magazine with a young girl kneeling beside her fallen friend. When the National Guard murdered four students at Ohio’s Kent State University for protesting the Vietnam War, it was a pivotal moment in our history. It was a pivotal moment for me…. Today we see what we have become. With no real laws protecting us from guns, and with politicians supporting the NRA because the NRA supports them, we are not well represented…. Today’s students are brave, demanding change in violent times. My wife Daryl and I put this video together for you to reflect on…. Give us common sense gun laws that protect our people, in schools, in places of worship, in the workplace and on the streets. VOTE.”
