Fox News' Megyn Kelly is pretty peeved at the efforts to get journalists to stop using "illegal immigrants," saying, "What if there was a push...to re-brand the use of the word rapist to nonconsensual sex partner?"
Kelly does have a valid point to make in that the emergence of the term "undocumented immigrant" is a pretty obvious attempt to rebrand the word to make it such folks seem less, well, illegal. But she invalidates her argument with her stupid and offensive analogy.
I really am frustrated by the extremes seen on this issue by both the right and the left. The right seem obsessed with punishing illegal immigrants no matter what circumstances. But a lot of people on the left seem to have no problem with illegal immigration at all, ignoring the many problems and rampant exploitation created by undocumented people and those who employ them. I wish there was more focus on creating a largescale humane guest worker system.
