Meet Your New Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot

Grab your magic lassos and strap on your jauntiest breastplate, because we officially have a Wonder Woman for Batman vs. Superman. Of the three actresses reportedly up for the part, Variety says it goes to Gal Gadot, most recently of Fast & Furious.

It's pretty exciting to know that Wonder Woman will be appearing in anything, at all, ever. For a cultural touchstone, it sure seems impossible to pull together any sort of successful project around her.

Then again, she won't exactly be the centerpiece of this movie—it's not like Black Widow was the star of the show in The Avengers. God knows if she'll ever get her own vehicle. And it's a little nervous-making that her portrayal will rest largely in the hands of Zack "You Guys Forgot About Suckerpunch, Right?" Snyder. He commented on the casting:

"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role."

Whatever that means. (She does pretty much look like a bad-ass, though.) Variety reports that the Flash will likely appear in the movie, as well, and possibly other members of the Justice League. Nobody knows whether it'll be substantial roles or mere cameos, though.

Now let's cross our fingers for a version that looks a little like this.

Look, I understand (and would love to have for all sorts of reasons) a Wonder Woman that was, well, an Amazon and built like one.

But I'm appalled by the number of commenters that have become hyper judgemental just because she happens to be thin and delicate looking (emphasis on looking). What you look like is not a marker of what you actually are or how bad ass you are. This is a woman that was chosen to be in the Fast and Furious movies partially because she was already a bad ass motorcycle rider and afficionado. This is a woman that served for two years in the Israeli army, one of the most bad ass fighting forces in the world.

Don't be the judgemental people you hate - don't judge based on looks. Someone that is thin and beautiful can in fact, be awesome and tough and able to play a very physical part. Life is unfair, people, and some people get the genetic Powerball. Deal with it.
