We’ve made it to August!

Here’s all the shit we couldn’t cover today:

  • Considering that America is the only industrialized nation without federally mandated paid leave, one might think that any proposal is better than no proposal. But on Wednesday, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio proved us all wrong. With Ivanka Trump’s backing (of course!), Rubio has introduced a spectacularly horrible paid family leave plan that asks adults to pull from their own future Social Security benefits in “exchange for delaying their retirement by three to six months.” The Social Security program, by the way, only has about 16 good years left. • Sean Hannity said a lot of dumb shit in this interview, including that “the untold story about who I am … is that I am the forgotten man, the forgotten woman.” Thank you, Sean. [Talking Points Memo]
