Louis Vuitton Sued for Racial Discrimination and Harassment

Latest

Louis Vuitton is joining the ranks of Barneys, Tiffany & Co., and Alexander McQueen after a employee launched a lawsuit against the company.

Oliver Koffi, sales associate, alleges that his manager went off on a racist tirade in front of the staff of Louis Vuitton’s Selfridge’s location in Central London. As reported by the Mirror:

Mr Koffi said: “During this discussion, my manager quite randomly stated that ‘black people are slaves and eat dirt off the floor’.
“This comment was grossly offensive and extremely humiliating.
“His reference to slavery in this day and age with regards to black people is quite frankly revolting.”

Koffi says the manager in question, who apparently has a little bit of bigotry for everyone, also called Barack Obama a “muppet” and that “America would be better off with ‘Miss Piggy’ as its president because ‘Muslim people… don’t eat pork'” and offended Asian employees by claiming Louis Vuitton products were “‘s***’ because they were ‘made in China.'” Wonderful.

When Koffi confronted the manager about his statement regarding black people expressing how offended he was, the manager brushed it off, claiming it was a joke. Because it’s always a fucking joke, isn’t it.

The company is defending the claim, saying that they did all they possibly could in the situation seeing as the manager underwent a disciplinary proceeding and no longer works for Louis Vuitton. A spokeswoman said:

“Louis Vuitton has a zero-tolerance policy to harassment of any kind.
“This reported sentiment is in total violation of the Louis Vuitton Ethical charter.
“This issue was investigated, and the manager in question no longer works within the company.”
