Leering Men Have Their Leers Turned Against Them in New Indian Ad

This ad, released exactly one year after the nightmarish gang rape on a bus in New Delhi forced Indian authorities to acknowledge the country's flimsy sexual assault laws and burgeoning rape culture, quite literally forces men to look at how gross and predatory they look when they leer at women in public. The lyrics of the song say in Hindi, "Look how you look when you're looking at me," and all manner of surprise mirrors are used to great effect in undermining the male gaze.

I'm a gay guy and I like when gay guys stare at me. It's a nice compliment and when I was looking to meet someone it sometimes led to a date. Do no women feel the same? Also what about women that stare at men? I've certainly been next to a group of women oogling a guy walking buy (and I oogled as well). Does that mean American women are part of some vast evil rape culture seeking to abuse men? What is inherently wrong with this? Why connect staring with rape?
