Lara Stone's A Whiz In The Kitchen
Latest- David Walliams says Stone asks, “‘What time are you home because I want to know what time to put the shepherd’s pie on?’ I never thought I’d have that. An international supermodel who can make a great shepherd’s pie.” [Sun]
- Nick Cannon shared an anecdote about Mariah Carey‘s pregnancy-related shoe issues on the radio:”I come home yesterday to help my wife get ready for her video shoots and she has these 19-inch heels on.” Reports People, “Carey defended herself, explaining the heels were only for a job.” Cannon continued, ‘So I go into the closet searching for some flats for my wife … She got a lot of damn shoes — it’s like a frickin’ Macy’s. [And] Mariah Carey does not own one pair of flat shoes.’ Carey corrects him, ‘To be fair, I had some boots from Aspen, some Dior boots.’ ‘Ski boots!’ Cannon argues. Carey says, ‘And then we did find some flats and then they were a regular ballet slipper, like a beige, and I was like, “I don’t think so.”‘ Cannon says he finally got her to wear flats -– in the form of ski boots. ‘Basically, I got Mariah Carey, the high-heel queen, to put on some flats. And this is amazing. I’m going shoe shopping today, needless to say, to buy you some flat shoes.'” [People]
- Alber Elbaz says he put the models for his last show in flat shoes only after a “nightmare” runway rehearsal in high heels made of titanium. “We did the rehearsal and all of a sudden I saw the girls couldn’t walk. I saw the agony in their faces. They were shaking; they looked like alcoholic girls…I got very emotional — not that I got mad at them — but I got very emotional that they didn’t complain. You know what? Damn it with image. You can be stubborn and go after an image, but I’m not an image-maker; I’m a dressmaker. If you don’t feel good in something, you don’t look good with it.” So he swapped the heels for flats, and all was well. Elbaz says the point of fashion should be to make women feel good. “A doctor will give you a Tylenol,” he says. “I will give you a beautiful red coat, and you will feel as good with Tylenol as with the red coat.” As regards his H&M collection, which launches later this month, “Ninety-five percent of women cannot afford [Lanvin], so let them have a taste. It’s like if I was living in a palace and opened some doors and said, ‘Have tea with me, taste the food.'” [WWD]
- At Lanvin‘s Halloween party, Rachel Zoe said, again, that she’s not pregnant, and her former assistant Brad came dressed up as Tavi Gevinson. [The Cut]

- Bridget Hall‘s lawyer has asked for the drink driving charges against her to be dismissed if she performs community service. The model — who says she passed a field sobriety test administered by the police — denies she was drinking the night she was arrested, and says the breathalyzer must have been faulty. [Express]
- Patagonia is encouraging its customers to…not buy so many clothes, with hang-tags that say things like, “Don’t buy this jacket unless you really need it.” The company expects this will improve its sales by increasing Patagonia’s market share. [WWD]
- In case you needed yet more evidence that the recession is over for a lot of people — and for some, never really existed in any meaningful way — there is now an investment fund headquartered in London that is dedicated to investing in and trading colored diamonds, the rarest gems of all, supposedly. “You can hold our entire fund in the palm of your hand,” says a founder. “We are a tool for investors to put their money into assets that are a little bit different.” [WWD]
- At the Fashion Group International Awards, Theory‘s Andrew Rosen sat with Proenza Schouler designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough. Rosen has been rumored to be taking a stake in the company, which is currently backed by the luxury group Permira. [On The Runway]
- AnOther Magazine is launching a perfume. Naturally, it’s “a hand-blended scent with a limited run of just 500,” so “only a fortunate few will be able to own an individually numbered bottle.” [AnOther Magazine]
