Kylie Jenner and Amandla Stenberg Exchange Words Over Kylie’s Kornrows

Latest

Kylie Jenner recently posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing a crop top, sweatpants and her hair done in cornrows with the caption, “I woke up like disss.” The pic collected over 1 million likes and over 100,000 comments, including one from Amandla Stenberg, who called out the reality star for appropriating black culture. According to Us Weekly, Stenberg wrote:

@novemberskyys when u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter

Jenner shot back this catty response:

Mad if I don’t. Mad if I do…Go hang w Jaden or something

Jenner was, of course, referring to Jaden Smith, Stenberg’s prom date from this year and whom Jenner reportedly dated a couple of years ago. This wasn’t the first time Stenberg spoke out against cultural appropriation. In April, the Hunger Games actress released a video called “Don’t Cash Crop My Cornrows,” where she talked about musical artists who have been accused of appropriating black culture, such as Iggy Azalea and Miley Cyrus.
