Kristen Stewart Will Play a ‘Mean’ Coco Chanel

Latest

With multiple campaigns under her belt, Kristen Stewart is close to becoming a seasoned vet when it comes to Chanel. Now, the actress is taking on the role of Coco Chanel in an upcoming short film from Karl Lagerfeld.

The film will debut in December at the fashion house’s 12th annual Métiers d’Arts show, reports WWD. Stewart’s role in the short is a little different than expected—she’s set to play an actress who is playing a young version of Chanel’s founder, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. “She played it really, really mean,” described Lagerfeld of Stewart’s portrayal. “You only see her in tests and she’s complaining about everything. She’s mean with the director; mean with the producer.”

Geraldine Chaplin, who has appeared in Lagerfeld’s previous films, will be playing a middle-aged version of the designer, while Harper’s Bazaar editor Laura Brown will have a part as an American journalist.

In the meantime, Stewart can be seen in the stoner action-comedy American Ultra, which is currently out in theaters.
