Just in Time for Christmas: Of Course There's a Selfie Boardgame

Latest

Well, it looks like our socially acceptable narcissism has hit really hit its consumerist stride. Introducing, Selfie: The Game of Silly Expressions! It’s like Apples to Apples, but with your face instead of words. No dignity necessary!

According to the product description, players are supposed to, “draw a card, take a selfie, then watch as your friends and family guess your expression. The favorite guess gets a point and the player with the most points at the end wins. Make a silly face and SAY CHEESE because today is the day to express your #selfie!”

Some examples of the expressions for which you must contort your face and take a selfie: “You are trying to squeeze in too-tight skinny jeans,” “You just drank 6 shots of espresso,” “You are having hot flashes.” I basically make the same facial expression for all of these things (the ‘give me a second while I figure out if I need to poop or not’ look). Players can either use their own smartphone or the game’s ‘selfie frame,’ which all in all seems over-the-top redundant, but okay.

This game is like the mystery bastard child of a threesome between Pictionary, Apples to Apples and Charades. So obviously it’s only a matter of time before we see a televised game show based on it, hosted by a visibly aged, tired and otherwise out-of-work Jim Parsons.
