Johnny Depp Is Maybe Using Amber Heard's Charity Donations As a Tax Break

Hey, remember when Amber Heard decided she would send all of that settlement money from her ‘stache of an ex Johnny Depp to charity?

Well, apparently he just remembered that he had to pay her said money in order for that very kind and charitable donation to take place and hastily wrote a check to both charities directly instead, according to this statement from his rep.

“Johnny Depp has sent the first of multiple installments of those monies to each charity in the name of Amber Heard, which when completed will honor the full amount of Ms. Heard’s pledge.”
Ms. Heard’s generosity in giving to these wonderful causes is deeply respected.”

All of this would be fine if it weren’t for the fact that Heard’s lawyers think otherwise. According to the Daily Mail, the fact that Depp donated this money directly to the charities themselves means that he’ll get a tax break, recouping half the money that he donated on Heard’s behalf. Are you surprised? I’m not!

A spokesperson from her legal team said the only way he can make this fair and right is to “honor the full amount by donating $14 million to charity, which after accounting for his tax deduction, is equal to his $7 million payment obligation to Amber.”

Apparently Heard’s legal team grew suspicious because Depp never gave a shit about these charities in the first place and he “insisted” on paying them all himself in one lump sum. “Mr. Depp said he’d write the check himself,” he said, probably, before spinning three times counterclockwise on the heel of his Chelsea boot and turning into a bat.
