J.K. Rowling Suing Former Assistant for Alleged Unauthorized Purchases, Such as Cats

Latest

J.K. Rowling is not enjoying the change in seasons as she is still stuck in the summer of scam.

The BBC reported on Wednesday that the author is suing her former employee, Amanda Donaldson, whom she claims violated work protocol by making several unauthorized purchases using Rowling’s funds, amounting to about $31,000 in charges. Rowling is worth about $650 million, how would she even notice this? Why would she care? And what was she paying Donaldson, I wonder.

Donaldson worked as Rowling’s personal assistant between February 2014 and April 2017. She denies spending extra money on the writer’s business card, and additional accusations that she stole Harry Potter toys, according to legal papers filed with the Airdrie Sheriff Court.

Donaldson’s alleged purchases included thousands of dollars worth of luxury candles and Starbucks orders. She also allegedly spent about $1,600 on two cats.

The case is due back in court later this year.
