A few months after leaving the sinking ship that is Lucky magazine, Eva Chen has a new gig: she’s now the Head of Fashion Partnerships at Instagram.
Chen has become, for better or worse, a must-follow on Instagram for a certain type of fashionista, reportedly getting her former job as the EIC Of Lucky largely because of her embrace and comfort with social media. She announced her new position on the app, of course, with the above photo, accompanied by the caption:
🙆🏻😁🎉💥🎊✨🎋💃🏻👯✔️🔝🔜💯! Beyond excited to announce that I’ll be joining the brilliant team at Instagram as head of fashion partnerships! (Today being #worldemojiday is the best coincidence, yes! 😆)
Chen’s Instagram trademark is her photos of her shoes/bags in the back of the cars she takes around New York City, known as the #evachenpose, which have not ceased since leaving Lucky. From earlier this week:
In early June, Chen started a new Instagram account devoted to “photogenic walls”: “a feed of all the best walls to shoot against in NYC.” Her baby daughter also has her own (private) account.
“Whenever I see friends at brunch or for a dinner I’m providing unofficial tutorials on best practices and how to make their feeds more interesting,” Chen told Mashable of her new position, continuing on to explain that she’ll “be working closely with stylists, designers, up-and-comers with fun activations and finding new ways to tell fashion stories.”
