Us Weekly confirms that the couple is splitting after marrying in July 2014. In an early sign of doom, the planning, wedding, and Scheana’s crop top dress were all televised in season 3 of Vanderpump Rules. The pair’s joint statement to Us reads:
“While we have made the difficult decision to move forward separately, our story will continue on through the love and mutual respect that we have cultivated throughout our 15-year friendship. Much of the recent speculation and reporting on our relationship has been misguided, and we have come to an amicable decision on all matters. We might have failed at our marriage, but we are committed to succeeding as friends and will continue to support each other’s personal happiness and professional success.”
A split seemed imminent after TMZ reported a “marriage on the rocks” and Mike seemingly went missing on November 2 after band practice.
Days later, Mike—whose addiction to prescription drugs and subsequent marital issues were well documented on the show—later Instagrammed a photo of himself holding up the day’s newspaper to prove he was alive and well. Part of the caption read: “I am not missing. I am sober. I am Happy!!! Don’t believe everything you read. I love my wife and will always love my wife. Whatever is going on between us will stay between us!”
In early November, Radar Online reported that the events leading up to their split were filmed for season 5, which is currently airing. A source told the site “this will all be playing out this upcoming season.”
