Idiot Loses $10K Engagement Ring After Leaving It in a Dressing Room

Latest

Here’s a piece of engagement advice you really shouldn’t need: Do not take off your $10,000 engagement ring. Definitely do not take it off in a H&M dressing room. And whatever you do, for the love of God, do not walk off and leave it in the dressing room.

Learn from the example of the woman who did just that and, DNA Info reports, lost her custom-made engagement ring at a New York City H&M earlier this week. According to the cops:

The 23-year-old told police that she took off the ring as she tried on clothes, and forgot to put the custom-made band back on before heading out of the room.
A few minutes after leaving the store, at about 2:15 p.m., she realized what she had done, but the ring was already missing when she returned, according to police reports.

Video shows a couple of women going into the dressing room afterward, but there’s no proof they took the ring.

This raises many, many questions. For starters: What about trying on clothes at H&M requires removing your engagement ring? (Was it THAT big?) Why wouldn’t you put your ring in your purse, or in your wallet, or perhaps on a chain around your neck? How do you walk off and leave 10Gs worth of sparkle somewhere as dingy as an H&M dressing room?

The cops are investigating, but it looks like this may be a case where the law of “finders keepers, losers weepers” applies.
