Hot Pink, Grecian Goddesses and Plenty of Diversity at the 2016 SAG Awards

Entertainment

Leonardo DiCaprio gazed knowingly (as if he knows something), Laverne Cox brought her charm, and the most unattractive couple on the planet threw their love in everyone’s faces at the “diverse” SAG Awards on Saturday night. More Grecian looks and ill-fitting prom gowns below.

Amy Poehler looks just fine in a dramatic scoop neckline, and Eva Longoria is a seaweed goddess. I can’t decide if it’s necessarily a bad thing. Sarah Silverman wore this nude gown with a ruffly mermaid tail.

Christina Ricci’s regal ice skater get-up by Christopher Kane is cool. Viola Davis looks divine in earth-toned Zac Posen, despite the wrinkly fabric. As usual, Queen Latifah is worthy of a Yas Queen.

Alicia Vikander’s sequined Louis Vuitton gown was a definite standout in a positive way. I’m mostly loving Kristen Wiig’s two-piece, even though the top looks like a bib tacked onto it.

Laverne Cox in this Grecian (maroon? marsala?) Prabal Gurung is enviable.

The Orange Is the New Black cast mostly delivered in plunging necklines, white and sparkles.

OITNB’s Diane Guerrero and Adrienne C. Moore chose gowns that pop. Abigail Savage could teach the dudes here how to not be boring in menswear.

Speaking of men, Mr. Robot star Rami Malek practiced his red carpet stance beforehand, while Joe Manganiello and Leonardo DiCaprio assumed the standard stoic position because guys don’t know how to pose.

A few handbags from Viola Davis, Naomi Watts and Uzo Aduba.

More OITNB cast members: Samira Wiley looks striking in simple white, but Dascha Polanco has definitely done better on the carpet.

Uzo Aduba’s Zac Posen dress looks like beautiful candy.

Nicole Kidman in Gucci suffers from a great idea (the sketched look) with bad execution.

Excuse me, sorry to interrupt your “moment.”

Jon Hamm accessorized with a winning smile, and January Jones was swimming in this lightweight aqua gown.

HAMM.

Emily Robinson’s super sweet dress is like Tinkerbell at prom. It seems as if a small hammock is holding up Kate Mara’s boobs. Not feeling either of these gowns on Christina Hendricks or Saoirse Ronan.

All these ladies wore flattering and relatively simple black numbers, but Anna Chlumsky is a fave.

Sofia Vergara chose the perfect neckpiece to go with this Peptol pink Vera Wang that lets the color and the cleavage scream for itself.

Ugh, get out.

The dashing and adorable cast of Straight Outta Compton coordinated like a modern boy band.

These are the lovely feet of superstars Eva Longoria, Sofia Vergara and Anna Faris.

Hello, boring men. This is the perfect skinny suit for Eddie Redmayne.

Giuliana Rancic’s dress would be better at a shorter length, and this is a cool ass pattern and shape for Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka.

Basic tuxedos from the dudes. Important poll: who has the most crooked bowtie?

Zany patterns from Naomi Watts, Annie Parisse, Ellie Kemper and Priyanka Chopra, none of which appeal to me much.

The red bunch: Scandal’s Katie Lowes, Tina Fey (who’s hit or miss on the carpet but a hit here) and Anna Faris (in a cap-sleeved gown with a slit) all look stunning.

Keegan Michael Key is the best out of all these well-suited bros.

Anthony Mackie tried to be different but the double breasted suit isn’t working. Mackie less. Idris Elba never disappoints.

Shut up and stop looking at me.

Here’s Rachel McAdams killing it in Elie Saab, one of the night’s best dressed, I’d say. As for the others…

OITNB’s Annie Golden (Cool). Veep’s Sarah Sutherland (Hmm). Mayim Bialik (No).

Some comfy going-out nightgown looks from Sarah Hyland, Amanda Peet and Diane Lane.

Can you even be mad at Lori Petty for this pink parachute pantsuit? It’s Miley Cyrus in 10 years. Meanwhile, Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ dress has a weird ombre effect.

Brie Larson in Atelier Versace is kinda gorg.

These are blessed looks worn by Diane Warren, Carol Burnett, Marisa Tomei and trans actress Trace Lysette.
