Holy Shit, Now Oscar Pistorius’ Brother Carl Is Facing Homicide Charges

Latest

Amid a stampede of fleeing sponsors, Oscar Pistorius was granted bail on Friday, which seemed to settle the Pistorius murder trial drama for the weekend. There is, however, yet another new twist in the Pistorius family saga — Oscar’s brother has now been charged with culpable homicide for a 2008 road death, according to a statement from Pistorius family lawyer Kenny Oldwage.

On Sunday, Oldwage said that Carl Pistorius appeared in court Thursday, a day before his brother’s bail hearing. Carl was allegedly involved in a crash with a female motorcyclist, and is scheduled to be back in court in March. Explained Oldwage,

Carl deeply regrets the accident. Blood tests conducted by the police at the time proved that he had not been under the influence of alcohol, confirming that it was a tragic road accident after the deceased collided with Carl’s car.

After Olympian sprinter Oscar Pistorius was charged with the premeditated murder of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, the Pistorius family circled the wagons, maintaining that their son had in fact mistaken Steenkamp for an intruder and shot her accidentally. Now, with the charges against Carl, the family has gone into full-blown lockdown mode, cancelling all the social media sites for Carl and sister Aimee Pistorius. The family has yet to publicly address the charges facing Carl Pistorius.
