Here's Sia's Version of 'You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile'

How excited are you about the upcoming Annie remake that is about to take over this holiday season? Are you excited enough to watch the original film over and over in anticipation? Or to annoy your partner with repeated playings of the original cast recording so that he's ready and can fully enjoy the film when it comes out? No? But are you excited enough to listen to this excellent cover of "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile?" It's by Sia! Everyone loves her.

The video is fine, but Sia's vocals (excellent) and the cover's altered rhythm and melody (even more excellent) make this childhood classic, which is really not the best song in the show/movie, a delightful earworm that will stick in your head for hours after you've heard the song. And sure, it may be a little bit less (okay, a lot less) upbeat and earnest than the original, but melancholy is what Sia does best and she doesn't disappoint here.

Also: Just as a bonus, here is the most amazing cover of 'Part of Your World" you will ever hear. (Yes, this is just a ploy for you to post your own favorite movie cover songs in the comments.)

I'm really excited for the remake because I never loved the original, despite being a huge classic movie and musical fan. My BF's husband hates even the idea of it because "Annie isn't black!" So much so that he's told his seven-year-old daughter she's not allowed to see it (O.o) Now, I'd be perfectly happy to ignore it, if he wouldn't keep bringing it up! Yes dude, I know you're a racist, mostly by the way you keep telling me you're not racist out of the blue. Can we talk about something else now?

Oh, and this was the manboy who bought me a Hobby Lobby gift card for my birthday so I'd be "forced" to shop there.
