Hari Nef, Trans Model Superstar, Lands Big Contract With IMG

Hari Nef—model, actress, internet star and side-eye gawd—has landed a prestigious modeling contract with IMG, one of the world’s biggest agencies, alongside supermodels like Chanel Iman, Alek Wek, Daria Werbowy, Joan Smalls, Karlie Kloss, Soo Joo Park and just about everyone else who rules the runway. Nef just graduated from Columbia University last week.

Last New York Fashion Week, Nef walked for Hood by Air and Eckhaus Latta, two progressive labels that represent youth culture more accurately and excitingly than more established counterparts who did not cast Nef. This will hopefully change with her newfound place on IMG, and also with brands realizing that audiences are deeply weary of lip service devoted to progressive runway casting but little to no follow-through.
