Game of Thrones is Coming to IMAX! AHHH

Entertainment

Huge news in nerdzone y’all: for one week only starting January 23, Game of Thrones will become the first television show in history to be shown in glorious, face-consuming, slightly nauseating for those of us with sensitive stomachs IMAX! You might as well start lining up outside your local theater now, because that will be one hot ticket to see, as my colleague Anna Merlan put it, “SO MANY 3D BOOBS, FLYING RIGHT AT YA.”

From the most awesome press release I have ever gotten in my inbox, with the most appropriately florid language:

Television’s most prodigious series is coming to the world’s most immersive cinematic experience. On January 23, 2015, HBO will become the first television network to feature its programming in IMAX® theatres, showing two episodes from season four of Game of Thrones followed by the eagerly anticipated worldwide debut of an exclusively created sneak-peek trailer for IMAX of season five. The episodes will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX® format and will be released for an exclusive one-week engagement in upwards of 150 IMAX theatres across the country’s top markets through January 29. In coming days, fans can log onto for screening information and to purchase tickets.

In other words, girl, wuttttttt. PARTY! The two episodes in question happen to be the most appropriate for IMAX, also: they’re showing S4E9, “The Watchers on The Wall,” which happened to have one of the most devastating and epic Wildlings vs. Watchers battle scenes of all time (though I worry about how the giants will hold up in IMAXvision). And they’ll also screen S4E10, “The Children,” which I cannot even remember at all but the aforementioned HBO press release says it deals with “Dany coming to grips with the realities of ruling a kingdom, Bran learning the startling reality of his destiny and Tyrion facing the truth of his unfortunate situation.” I seriously don’t remember any of that? OOPS, GUESS I’LL JUST HAVE TO GO SEE IT AGAIN IN BEAUTIFUL HOUSE-SIZED IMAX. BOO-YAH!!!
