- As part of a deal with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, former Trump campaign adviser Richard Gates has pleaded guilty to two charges—one for conspiracy against the United States, and another for lying to the FBI—and will cooperate with the investigation. [The Hill]
- Veering away from party lines and the NRA, Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced on Friday that he hopes to bar those under 21, or those with a history of violence, from buying guns. “I want to make it virtually impossible for anyone who is a danger to themselves or others to use a gun.” While this seems like progress, Scott also unhelpfully lumped in anyone who deals with mental health issues in his proposal, saying, “I want to make it virtually impossible for anyone who has mental issues to use a gun.” [NBC News]
- The White House was on lockdown after a woman hit a security barrier near the White House complex perimeter with a vehicle. [Politico]
- The US, eager to make things even messier in the Middle East, will officially move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in May. [The Hill]
- As Donald Trump continues to blather on about arming teachers with guns and right-wingers endorse militarizing schools, let’s all note that the cop charged with protecting Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School did not attempt to pursue the shooter, and instead stayed outside of the school. [NPR]
