Florida Woman Assaults Grandmother For Denying Facebook Request

Latest

An argument over a Facebook friend request resulted in a woman getting arrested for slapping her grandmother.

In the most 2014-est story ever,Rachel Anne Hayes, 27, a Florida woman in Pinellas County became enraged because her friend request was allegedly turned down by the victim. The victim, 72, (reportedly Hayes’ grandmother) didn’t like the name Hayes was going by on Facebook. Via ABC News:

[Hayes] became upset when the alleged victim refused to accept her friend request on Facebook because she felt the name Hayes was using was “inappropriate.”
“The victim told Hayes she would be willing to accept the request if she would change the name,” the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Authorities have so far not released the name the alleged victim found so “inappropriate” but I’m sure we all have some good guesses (“Anita Nailer.” “Betty Phuckter.” “Connie Lingus.” “Boobs McVagina.” I’ll stop now). More on the Facebook fight from the Tampa Bay Times:

The two women got into an argument, and Hayes left the Seminole home. When Hayes returned, the women fought again, this time at the threshold of the front door.
Deputies said Hayes slapped the elderly woman several times before she was able to retreat inside and lock the door.

Hayes was charged with aggravated battery on an elderly person, which is a felony. She was later released after posting bond.

2014, ladies and gentlemen. The year that keeps on giving.
