Everybody Hates Chris Christie

Politics

New Jersey Governor-turned-Trump-errand-boy Chris Christie is just one point away from earning the lowest approval ratings in Jersey gubernatorial history, an incredible feat he’s been working diligently to achieve in time for the new year.

According to a Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll released this morning, Christie’s approval ratings have dropped to 18 percent. It’s the lowest approval rating for a Jersey governor since former Gov. Brendan Byrn polled at 17 percent in 1977, and an incredible drop for Christie, who once polled at 73 percent following Hurricane Sandy.

It’s almost as if his constituents didn’t appreciate that he abandoned all of his principles to capitulate at the tiny feet of Donald Trump in hopes the man might one day toss him a treat.

According to the poll, 71 percent of Jersey voters also believe Christie should have been charged in Bridgegate, the politically-motivated bridge closing that snarled traffic in an effort to punish a mayor who declined to endorse Christie.

“Across the board we see disbelief in Governor Christie’s claims of ignorance about what his underlings were up to,” PublicMind director Krista Jenkins said in a press release. “The only group who offers some degree of equivocation is Republicans, but even half of them say they believe the governor should have also been a defendant. Past surveys from FDU have found a majority of registered voters incredulous at the claim [Christie] he knew nothing until incriminating text messages and emails were made public.”

At this point, no one likes Chris Christie—not even Chris Christie.
