Duncan Hunter's Democratic Opponent Riding Wave of Having Zero Campaign Finance-Related Indictments

NewsPolitics

Ammar Campa-Najjar is a Palestinian Mexican American who is fluent in Arabic and Spanish and is running on a pro-union, pro-Medicare for All platform. He also, unlike his opponent, Republican incumbent Duncan Hunter, currently has zero federal indictments for misusing campaign funds on things like Star Wars beanies. Incredible!

The Associated Press reports that the 29-year-old Democrat, who won only 17 percent of the primary vote, has gained new momentum in a district that voted for Donald Trump by 15 points and has elected a Duncan Hunter (before Hunter, his dad, also Duncan Hunter) to the House for nearly four decades.

“We are in a really weird situation,” Campa-Najjar told the Los Angeles Times. “You got two names on the ballot, which one do you want? Hunter is hardly working and he is only working to enrich himself.”

Campa-Najjar, a former Labor Department official under the Obama administration supports free merit and need-based college tuition and creating a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children.

This is his first bid for public office, and an incredible opportunity to make a name for himself as Not the Crime Man.
