  • A day after rumors spread that Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump were headed for divorce, Vanessa filed for divorce in the Manhattan Supreme Court. The filing is uncontested. [Page Six]
  • The Trump administration imposed sanctions against the Russian government for interfering in the 2016 election. Though the sanctions “represent the administration’s most aggressive actions to date against Russia,” analysts told the Washington Post that they were largely “symbolic.” [Washington Post]
  • Robert Mueller has reportedly subpoenaed the Trump Organization for “all records related to Russia.” [New York Times]
  • The 2019 budget request from the Department of Justice includes $13.2 million to “address workload” of the ATF, currently tasked with approving applications for the sale and transfer of machine guns, accessories like silencers, and devices like bombs. The funds would be used to hire more staff and approve the sales and transfers faster. One former ATF official said that the budget request “appears to be a compromise for the gun lobby.” [ABC News]
  • Haitian immigrants are suing the Trump administration and Homeland Security following the administration’s announcement that it would end temporary protected status for immigrants from the country. [Associated Press]
  • Donald Trump is said to be eyeing Fox & Friends Weekend host Pete Hegseth to replace Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin who is on the outs with the Trump administration. [Washington Post]
  • Trump will likely roll out a plan for the opioid crisis next week. The plan will reportedly include the death penalty for drug dealers which seems very….Duterte of him. [Politico]
  • Mike Pence’s brother is running for Mike Pence’s old House seat. Mike Pence has endorsed Mike Pence’s brother. [Politico]
  • Anthony Scaramucci is writing a book, but it won’t be juicy. In an interview, Scaramucci said that the book will be “an entrepreneur writing about an entrepreneur who has now ascended into the presidency.” This is truly a book that no one wants to read. [Entertainment Weekly]
