- The Justice Department is asking a federal judge for more time to reunite the thousands of migrant children the administration forcibly separated from their parents over the last few months. The court set a deadline of July 10 to reunite children under 5, and July 26 to reunite all children, but days ahead of the deadline, the administration still has no clear strategy or plan for reunification of nearly 3,000 children that they snatched away. - Here’s a video of Angelica Gonzalez-Garcia being reunited with her daughter 55 days after the administration separated them. [CNN]
- White nationalist James Alex Fields Jr. pleaded not guilty to more than two dozen federal hate crimes, including killing protester Heather Heyer at the Charlottesville white supremacist rally last August. [NPR]
- Another white supremacist, Richard Spencer, was blocked from entering Europe earlier this week. [Associated Press]
- The new EPA head is about as bad as the old one: Andrew Wheeler, former coal lobbyist and the EPA’s second in command, will be promoted to Scott Pruitt’s former position. [Associated Press]
- Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort is being held in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day because the facility “can’t guarantee his safety.” He is awaiting trial for a series of financial crimes. [Associated Press]

- In Florida, where felons need to apply to retain their right to vote, public officials ask horribly invasive, personal, and racist questions to election clemency applicants. In November, voters will have the change to restore felons’s rights with Amendment 4. [Florida Phoenix]
- A former border patrol agent and former child case manager at a Southwest Key Program detention facility for unaccompanied minors was arrested for child pornography in 2010. The case was dismissed because of a “a years-long case backlog allowed the statute of limitations to expire.” He resigned from the border patrol and resumed employment at the non-profit, a role that put him in contact with migrant children who have no guardians. - Donald Trump defends Republican Rep. Jim Jordan, who was accused of ignoring reports of sexual abuse when serving as assistant wrestling coach at The Ohio State University. “I don’t believe them at all. I believe him. Jim Jordan is one of the most outstanding people I’ve met since I’ve been in Washington,” said Trump, who has been accused of multiple incidences of sexual assault and has bragged about doing so.
