Doggie Liposuction Is a Thing

Latest

There’s liposuction for dogs now, though it’s not for their waistline as much as their health.

According to Fox 8 Cleveland, a veterinarian’s office in North Ridgeville, Ohio is leading the charge in removing lipomas, fatty masses that often develop in older dogs, with small incisions. In the past, pups with lipomas would undergo heavy surgery resulting in nearly 30 stitches, serious recovery time and plenty of looking pitiful while wearing a plastic cone. Now with the liposuction treatment, the animals can recover in as little as two days.

This practice might sound weird, but Americans do love their pets so veterinarian Dr. Rebecca Pentecost and her team at Animal Clinic Northview will probably clean up. Pet parents are already driving across state lines to put their dogs under the knife. But the real question — does pet insurance cover all of this doggie lipo?
