Delaware Parties While Legalizing Civil Unions
Latest
Other states, you could learn a thing or two from Delaware. Rather than marking the legalization of civil unions with a somber ceremony, Gov. Jack Markell signed the bill last night at the Queen Theatre in Wilmington as 600 people celebrated with champagne and Rainbow Chorale of Delaware performed. Markell said:
“Tonight, we say to loving and committed couples across the state who want the law to endorse the promise that they made long ago in their hearts, ‘Your love is equally valid and deserving, your family is now equal under the law.'”
The law takes effect Jan. 1, 2012, and will make Delaware the eighth state to allow civil unions.
