GUYS. I thought we talked about this. I could have sworn we already had a long, drawn out, excruciatingly detailed conversation about why this kind of shit is not okay. After maybe a week or two of total freak outs about Bruce Jenner, I thought we had agreed to shut the fuck up about him and leave him the hell alone.
I GUESS NOT.
Well, you know, since apparently Courtney Love missed the memo. I guess this isn't that surprising since she seems to hate us anyway. In her most recent episode of the web series #COURTNEYon, she tackles the Kardashians, but it's mostly just her going on a transphobic rant about Bruce Jenner:
Bruce Jenner. What the hell? He used to be a very masculine man who won the triathlon, and now there's a— I saw a picture of his nails. They are as long as mine. Something is so up, or not up, with that guy. Maybe he's taking estrogen. I don't know. It's, like, a lot of estrogen. I don't know what the hell it is.
Really, Courtney? REALLY? Are we going to have to do this? Okay, fine, let's do this:
SHUT UP. You cannot tell someone's hormone levels by the way they look. You need to take blood and monitor it very carefully in order to be assured changes are happening and happening safely. You can probably, over long periods of time, see changes you can maybe, perhaps assume to be due to hormone replacement therapy (but only if you know for what you are looking and because you have reason to believe HRT is involved). Jenner's level of cosmetic surgery is well known already. There have been a great many changes over the last few years which probably have nothing to do with transitioning, let alone can be directly related to estrogen doses.
Also, as usual, you are really late to the party... and yet we're paying attention to you anyway. You're really good at that, Courtney.
