Children's Book Go the Fuck to Sleep Is Getting a Fucking Film Adaptation

Latest

“Go the Fuck to Sleep,” the children’s book by Adam Mansbach, has already received the stamp of approval from cool parents everywhere, as well as internet notoriety and narrated versions by both Samuel L. Jackson (above) and Werner Herzog. But why stop there when the cash cow still has more milk in her? Fox 2000 has now announced that they are moving forward on a film adaptation of the 32-page picture book.

If you think that a film adaptation of “Go the Fuck to Sleep” sounds like a weak premise for a film, what with it being a bedtime story that consists solely of a parent begging their child to go the fuck to sleep, then you are right. That does sound like a weak premise for a film. One promising detail, however, is that it’s being written by Ken Marino (Party Down, Children’s Hospital, Veronica Mars) and Erica Oyama, the brain behind the spot-on Bachelor/Bachelorette parody Burning Love.

Hazarding a guess, I would say that Go the Fuck to Sleep: The Movie will be a comedy about parenthood à la What to Expect When You’re Expecting more than it will be a film for actual kids. Thanks to Oyama and Marino (real life spouses, btw), this one (unlike What to Expect When You’re Expecting) might make you actually want to go the fuck to the cinema.
