Catherine Oxenberg Reveals Her Daughter India Is ‘Moving Forward’ After Escaping NXIVM Cult
CelebritiesDirt BagNearly a year after revealing her struggle to save her 26-year-old daughter India from NXIVM, a “sex-slave cult” masquerading as a self-help group for women, Catherine Oxenberg has shared that her daughter is out of the group and “moving forward” with her life and will “share her story when she is ready.” According to People, the mother and daughter reunited in June.
In an interview with Megyn Kelly, Catherine revealed it was her idea to attend their first NXIVM class back in 2011, but that she quickly abandoned the group after getting “weird and creepy” vibes. Unfortunately, India didn’t lose interest. (She was eventually branded with the initials of the alleged cult leaders, Keith Raniere and Allison Mack.
“I brought her in. And that’s why I feel responsible for getting her out,” Catherine said. “At first I felt horrendous guilt that I had participated in bringing my daughter into an organization that was this deviant and dangerous.”
