In a shortened work week during which America celebrated its 241st birthday and our esteemed president tweeted gifs of himself pummeling CNN taken from a Reddit user called HanAssholeSolo, Big Time Dicks celebrated our dystopian reality by honoring all of the real-life cartoon villains of the Trump administration.
Joined by staff writer Ellie Shechet, who remained blissfully unaware of the news cycle for the past five days because she was on a beach (sadly, not with Chris Christie), Game Master Joanna Rothkopf presented us with apocalyptic quotes from grandiose leaders, both real and fictitious. Ellie and I had to guess whether the quote was from a villain like The Joker, or a guy like Steve Bannon, the White House Chief Strategist who, incidentally, also looks like The Joker.
It was distressingly difficult, and in the end, we all learned some lessons—that the NRA might be worse than Voldemort, Simon Cowell is an underrated villain, and that Disney movies are totally accurate when they portray the world as black and white. Play along with us in the most recent episode, and don’t forget to check out the following recap of our first-ever live event last week, in which Joanna and I debriefed on the last six torturous months with comedian Aparna Nancherla, Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman, and Our Revolution political director Erika Andiola.
Big Time Dicks can be found on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, Google Play, iHeart Radio, and on the NPR One app.
