Breastfeeding Mom Takes No Shit From Lady Who Tells Her to Cover Up

Lucy Eades of Burleson, Texas, was nursing her 16-day-old daughter while her other daughter was in dance class. An employee of the Burleson Recreation Center took it upon herself to be the boob police and asked Eades to cover up Those Which Are Most Sacred. Awesomely, Eades didn't back down and correctly informed the breast-hating booby that it's legal for her to nurse her baby and it was on.

I'm sure I'll get blasted for this, but here goes... I am a mom to a 3-month-old. So I get the need to feed. It's important. It's natural. But really, I don't think it's too much to ask someone to cover it up in public. Politely. It shouldn't escalate into a brawl. And if the person refuses, then you should just walk away because you know you aren't going to win that fight. I respect every woman's right to breastfeed, but I just don't want to see a naked breast while I am in line getting my Starbucks in the morning (which I have seen, and I haven't said a word) or while I am having a business meeting. Just like I don't want to see men with gross feet wearing mandals in public. I don't think there is anything wrong with a little modesty. In fact, I think polite society could do with a little more consideration all around. Just because you have a child doesn't mean the world turns around you and your child's needs. It doesn't even really mean you are due extra special treatment. I have a child! I don't expect people out in public to alter their lives because of my wee one. Sometimes I feel like the breastfeeding contingent gets a little too aggressive with this attitude that they can whip it out whenever and wherever. They make really cute blankets and cover ups that are completely unobjectionable. Why is this such a hot button issue??
