Big Pottermore Reveal Has Actually Been Known in the Fandom for Years
LatestJK Rowling released her first story of the Harry Potter 12 Days of Christmas series via Pottermore today and, according to MTV, she’s revealing some “serious Severus Snape secrets.” Too bad that the “secret” is something that’s been a widely accepted fact in the Harry Potter fandom for years now.
Titled “Cokeworth,” Rowlings latest story is a brief description of the hometown of Severus Snape and Harry’s mother, Lily Potter née Evans. That right there, by the way, is the big reveal—that Lily and Severus are from the same town, a detail so broadly assumed that it was even included in the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 2.
Pottermore commenter BronzeNimbus17212 knows what’s up.
Yeah, wth.
While Rowling does present some interesting details about the fictional land of Cokeworth (it’s an industrial town, divided by a river), she’s also being needlessly cruel by revealing Marauder era information (typically the best kind of information) without real substance. GIVE THE MUGGLES WHAT THEY WANT, ROWLING! Seven full length books about Lily, Severus and the Marauders’ time at Hogwarts. That can’t be too much to ask.
