Beth Ditto Announces New Plus-Size Collection With a Jean Paul Gaultier Collab

Entertainment

Beth Ditto just announced that the debut of her new plus-size clothing line is imminent and scheduled for February, thus offering a second chance to those of us who never bought anything from her 2009 collection for Evans and continue to rue that dreadful mistake.

To launch the line, she also announced a limited edition t-shirt designed in collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier—oversized, emblazoned with Gaultier’s bullet bra corset, complete with back lacing. (Ditto appeared the designer’s runway show back in 2010.) Looks like there are sizes 1X and 2X available for purchase now, though it’ll set you back $165.

According to the announcement, the offerings will “feature current styling with a vintage flair,” with a focus on “vibrant prints and well-tailored pieces, with silks, rayons and embroidery that are frequently missing from plus-size lines.” She said in a statement: “This line is by us, for us, period. It’s my lifelong dream to get to design real clothes for big people, clothes that are comfortable and cool!” It’ll run all the way to size 30.
