Bella Hadid's Living that Fashion Tape Life

Still doing it up in Cannes, Bella Hadid hit the carpet in an Alexandre Vauthier couture gown looking both wildly comfortable (she’s basically wearing a nightgown) and wildly uncomfortable (there is definitely a yard or two of fashion tape keeping that guy intact).

The event was for the premiere of The Unknown Girl, a Belgian film about a doctor who declines to admit a patient one night, after which police find her dead on the side of the road; the doctor spends the film trying to uncover the girl’s identity. It’s up for the Palme d’Or, Cannes’s biggest prize, and the event leading up to it was typically star-studded and glamorous, so clearly Bella had to go all out, particularly with an outsized amount of actual supermodels were in attendance—Jourdan Dunn, Irina Shayk, Liya Kibede, Liu Wen, Alessandra Ambrosio, Vanessa Paradis. A wonderful assemblage of fashion’s greatest for a film that seems incredibly dark!

Is anybody else as sad as I am to see the return of the strappy sandal? These high heels with nothing but a couple of very thin straps of material across the top are monstrously uncomfortable to wear, and make your feet look like sausages trying to burst out of the casing whenever you try to walk in them. Bella’s shoe here at least has the mid-strap placed so that her foot shouldn’t slide down too much, but most iterations aren’t that strategically made.
