Women go topless to protest the Vatican's opposition to gay marriage in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013. Police quickly took the women away, and the Pope appeared not to have been disturbed as he delivered his traditional prayer from his studio window overlooking the piazza. The Catholic Church's stance on gay marriage goes deeper than just what the Pope thinks. As a Christian, I have no problem with gay marriage by a state. The government should allow you to be married just like regular couples.
But you shouldn't be allowed to be married in the Church. Because of the many biblical, traditional, and canon which speaks to that. But being married in a state is fine.
