Looks like Arya Stark, the scrapper from the North who's been wandering around Westeros in the same grimey old jerkin for years now, is finally get some new duds in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. And to top it off, she'll even get to wash her hair.

At the end of season 4, Arya (yes, spoilers start here) was still in her travel clothes and bound for Braavos. "For so long she had to look like a boy," costume designer Michele Clapton told Entertainment Weekly. "Even when [the disguise] was no longer necessary, it made no sense to change it [because] she was on the road."

Now that she's become more settled into her Baavosi lifestyle, she actually has time to wear laundered and intact clothing. Her worn-out trousers have been replaced by a calf-length brown skirt, she's been given a new jacket and is even sporting jewelry. (You can see the wardrobe illustration here.)

"I love Arya's new look. It's very neutral, very plain, but clean! I have clean hair that actually moves," actress Maisy Williams remarked.

But will we still be able to recognize the Arya we know and love? Barely:

...The makeover was so dramatic, it even fooled crew members who have worked with [Williams] for years. "I had my hair braided up to these big buns and bits of jewelry and a jumper thing with a long skirt, and I came onto the set and nobody recognized me," she says. Getting rid of the clothing that Arya has worn through so much family tragedy over the years will even be a plot point in the show. "That was such a release—it was like no acting required," she says of the scene. "This feels totally like a next chapter."

Arya's lack of vanity has always been one of her strongest driving features, so let's hope the show stays true to that. That said, I'm fine with her wearing a skirt and some earrings, just so long as it doesn't distract from her thirst for revenge.
