A Second Woman Has Accused Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax of Sexual Assault

A second woman has accused Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax of sexual assault. Meredith Watson, in a statement released by her lawyer, said that Fairfax raped her in 2000, when they were both undergraduates at Duke University. “Mr. Fairfax’s attack was premeditated and aggressive,” the statement read.

Watson’s attorney said the claim has been corroborated by Watson’s former classmates, who say Watson “immediately told friends that Mr. Fairfax raped her.” From the Washington Post:

Kaneedreck Adams, 40, an attorney who attended Duke with Watson and said in the spring of 2000, when they lived across from each other in on-campus apartments, Watson came to her crying.
“She was upset,” Adams said. “She told me she had been raped and she named Justin.”

This comes two days after Dr. Vanessa Tyson, an associate professor at Scripps College in Claremont, California, released a statement saying Fairfax sexually assaulted her when they attended the Democratic National Convention in 2004. Watson says that the details of her rape are similar to Tyson’s.

This is a developing story.
