Anderson Cooper to Donald Trump: You're Literally Acting Like a Child

CNN held a town hall last night for the remaining three GOP candidates, as though you don’t see them in your screeching nightmares every time you close your eyes. In the midst of a fairly friendly interview, Anderson Cooper found time to tell Donald Trump he’s acting like a fucking child.

Cooper referred to Trump threatening to “spill the beans” on Ted Cruz’s wife Heidi, whatever that means, followed by him retweeting an unflattering photo of her next to Melania Trump. It was an effort to shame him, but it didn’t work, because Trump is literally impervious to shame.

“I thought it was a nice picture of Heidi,” Trump shrugged. “I thought it was fine. She’s a pretty woman.”

“Come on,” Cooper replied. “You’re running for president of the United States.”

“I didn’t start it,” Trump protested. Like a child.

“Sir, with all due respect, that’s the argument of a 5-year-old,” Cooper answered. “Every parent knows a kid who says, ‘He started it.’”

“No, no, no,” Trump said, bafflingly. “That’s the problem. Exactly that thinking is the problem this country has. I did not start this.” He looked briefly at the audience, seemingly hoping for an applause break that did not arrive.

Cooper pointed out, correctly, that an anti-Trump super PAC kicked off the photo war by sending out a racy photo of Melania, and that neither of the Cruzes had anything to do with it.

Trump was unmoved: “My wife was a very successful model,” he told everybody.

Great. All of this is just great.
