Roger Ebert says this video of a kitten deserves an Academy Award for best live-action short subject, “because of its wonderful quality.”

OK OK, so I am bullshitting you: Ebert actually gave his personal Oscar nod to this Snowpocalype ’10 movie. But still! As far as cat/kitten videos go, this short’s as artistic and masterfully executed as they come (except for the clunky zoom at :13, but we’ll let it slide). It probably deserves an award of some sort:

Love the impact of that swelling background music. And dig that final scene, in which the kitten fights with the raggedy toy thingie. It seems like a metaphor for humankind’s efforts to overcome daily struggles and strife, though maybe I’m just reading too much into things.
