Amy Winehouse Now A Fashion Designer

Latest

Her music career might be up in the air, but Amy Winehouse is launching a clothing collection with Fred Perry — a brand sometimes associated with skinheads.

Amy is a “loyal fan” of classic Fred Perry stuff, in keeping with her retro/mod dancehall/ska vibe, and the collection mostly consists of pieces in black and pink — twinsets, pencil skirts, capri pants, a mini bowling dress and, of course, polo shirts.

Fred Perry was a tennis and table-tennis champ in the ’30s, but at some point, the Fred Perry logo — a white wreath — became a favorite with skinheads, both traditional (non-racist) and racist. While there are white wreaths on some vintage Nazi memorabilia, the Fred Perry logo is actually a laurel, honoring Perry’s Wimbeldon and Davis Cup wins.

In any case, the sketches of Amy’s clothes look really cute. Now if she would just make music.
