Alleged Marilyn Monroe Sex Tape Surfaces

A Spanish man claims to have in his possession a 6 1/2 minute tape of the woman who would become known as Marilyn Monroe having some sex. Collector Mikel Barsa told Argentine media that the tape is real, and that he wants to sell it for at least half a million dollars. Ka-ching/barf.

Not only is it pretty skeevy to sell the intimate moments of a woman who was exploited for most of her adult life and died tragically young, this isn’t even the first time the artist formerly known as Norma Jean Baker is rumored to appear in a skin flick. The AP reports,

He said it’s an exact copy of a 16-mm film discovered more than a decade ago. Barsa brokered a sale of that film to a European magazine in 1997, which he said in turn sold some 600,000 copies before a collector bought the original 16-mm reel for $1.2 million. Copies of that version are still circulating on the Internet.

Predictably, the attempted sale of this latest Monroe sex tape is being entangled in quite the legal and ethical clusterfuck (no pun intended). The manager of the late Monroe’s estate has sued to block release of the tape in the past, and has not yet commented on the new footage.

Persnickity sounding Marilyn Monroe expert/collector Scott Fortner is unconvinced the tape’s the real deal.

“That’s not Marilyn. The chin is not the same, the lips are not the same, the teeth are not the same,” said Fortner, who has a sizeable collection of Monroe memorabilia, including a belt he said proves how much more petite she was. “Marilyn was a tiny little thing. And I know that for a fact. I own her clothing.”

Many less brave souls would have chosen to plead the fifth before admitting to owning a dead woman’s clothing, but kudos to Scott Fortner.

When it comes to Marilyn Monroe, telling the real from the fake can get tricky. The star underwent several transformations over the course of her career.
…she had some plastic surgery, learned how to hold her face differently in modeling school and adopted a mole on her left cheek. “I actually think it moved from time to time,” Fortner said.

Barsa plans to auction the tape off on August 7 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Common decency was different in the 1950’s.
