On Tuesday, a random person on Twitter shared a clip of newly sworn-in Congressperson Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in which a younger Ocasio-Cortez is... dancing. The account frames this dancing as some sort of gotcha:
People, naturally, were perplexed as to why a video of Ocasio-Cortez dancing to that one Phoenix song that everyone knows and still (shamefully) loves could be construed as anything but her being a fairly typical millennial.
It was soon pointed out that the clip of Ocasio-Cortez dancing is from a much longer video shot for Boston University’s Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground, in which she and other students recreate the iconic dance scene from The Breakfast Club:
