A Drunk-ish Mariah Carey Tells a Rambling Story on Live TV

Mimi has been working hard to promote the release of her new single “You’re Mine (Eternal),” with stops at several radio shows and an MTV special during which she premiered her new video and sat down for a very laid back (read: kinda messy) interview with Sway.

Mariah played up the diva thing with Sway, worrying about her angles and lighting. (On Wednesday, for an interview with The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1, she actually brought her own lighting designer—to a radio show.) And Sway just went with it, indulging her whims, which included a very long, confusing story about all of her dogs and a weird, inexplicable, line-by-line re-enactment of her favorite scene from Mean Girls (her favorite movie).

As for the video for “You’re Mine (Eternal),” it can be summed up in three words: excessive body glitter.

Also learned during this publicity tour: she fires nannies at the snap of a finger, and she’s apparently threatened by Ariana Grande.

Her new album, as yet untitled, will be out on May 6. She remains a national treasure.
