I haven't seen any of the movies, but I have read all the books (borrowed them from a friend who insisted that they were the OMG BEST BOOKS EVER - they made me revise my opinion of her intellectual abilities, but that's another story). At first, I literally could not imagine how you make Breaking Dawn anything but a horror movie. *Spoiler Alert* I mean, she is almost killed by sex with her vampire husband; gestates a half vampire baby that almost kills her; and then her vampire husband ends up giving her a C-section with his teeth just before turning her into a vampire as well.

But then I realized that, in Myers' world, none of that is horrific. The blood and gore and death actually adds to the "romance" of it all and reaffirms her belief as to the natural role of women as passive procreative vessels whose strongest power is looove. And this message is actually far more horrifying than either the so-bad-you-can't-look-away writing or the gore.
