"While the hierarchy spends their time covering up scandals and throwing major celebrations for themselves, Catholic women are working for justice and making a positive difference in the world," said a protester at Tuesday's march on the Vatican. [AP]
DISCUSSION
Honestly, I am surprised to find myself supporting this. I was raised in a very conservative, traditional Catholic family, and my mom was always vocal about issues like this. I almost became a nun, and I believed pretty strongly in all the hierarchy and rules. But now, I am increasingly resentful of my mother, who wouldn't let me be an altar server because "that's for boys." Seriously, I cannot believe that God would have a problem with women becoming priests.
